We are glad to let you know that we have given more than enough attention to you, so we have decided to write you a letter. No fluff, no ChatGPT - just raw pointers that we want to give you this time, instead of you giving us long-form, sometimes ridiculously wrong job descriptions and expectations.
Here it goes:
Please stop posting job openings for positions you’re not actually hiring for, and quit flooding LinkedIn with the same job listed across different cities and states.
When posting jobs, think about the reality of infrastructure, rent, and lifestyle challenges in major metropolitan areas such as Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Pune. Stop asking for hybrid and onsite - reconsider the Remote option.
Please stop sending AI interviews of 1 hour with 50 questions and then never reverting back.
Please value our time and skills by at least replying that you are not going forward with the opportunity.
It would be reasonable to stop demanding more than five years of domain experience for dynamic roles like business analysts, as these positions evolve over time.
Please stop posting about unpaid internships - it does not make sense in this kind of brutal market anymore.
Please stop asking for experience of more than 15 to 20l package and then offering 5 to 7l as a package.
Please stop saying that you are a growing company and can't afford - cause you want talent like IIM but want to pay like we have passed out from villages. They also deserve better pay based on their skills and expertise.
Dear recruiters and outsourcing companies, please stop keeping more than 50% salary profit and pay the candidates the salary they deserve.
Please stop treating contractors as factory workers, providing no paid leave or festival holidays. In fact, factory workers often receive better treatment.
When posting job openings, include an email or a link to apply. We are not interested in boosting your follower count on LinkedIn.
When you say your DMs are open, please check your profile. Not all LinkedIn members have premium accounts to message you directly.
Founders do not ghost individuals who are reaching out to share their services with you. Remember, you were once in that position; at least have the courtesy to respond, even if just to say you're not interested.
Dear founders, we all know that you are using ghostwriters and AI left-right and centre - don't boast about it, cause when it comes to paying them, you have just a 30k budget for high-ticket content requirements.
Dear LinkedIn, please fix your filters, cause even if we select remote, you still show onsite and hybrid jobs.
Dear recruiters and companies panel - please value the time of the candidate also, and come on time or ask to reschedule in advance, not 1 min ago.
Finally, we ask you to treat us like humans, not robots. When you seek extraordinary skills and expertise, demonstrate basic common sense and courtesy towards those of us who are currently in the job hunt.
We sincerely thank the recruiters and founders who treat us with respect and decency. If you agree with this message, please share it.
If you don’t - there’s no need to explain; we’ve already received enough versions of “unfortunately” in our inboxes.
And to all job seekers out there: don’t give up. Keep going. That’s the only message I have for you.
