Varun Nair, Solutions Engineer

When you really understand the developer mindset - You can do better Project management! ðŸ˜Š

The cherry on the top would be to learn the mindset from our very own - Varun Nair - Full stack developer, writer and designer. ðŸ˜Ž

I had wonderful catchup with Varun Nair on developer mindset, working in startups, the role of project management to help developers achieve goals, life learnings and of course Movies and series :)

Here is the learning:

✔ Day to day development tactics to implement:

✅ The dependency problem of front end and back end developer can be resolved - The secret is - Be a full stack developer. ðŸ™‚
✅ When it comes to estimation - make sure you utilize the techniques out there - estimation from solutioning perspective - story points, estimation from development perspective. Experience in different projects always help to have better estimations
✅ Whenever in doubt or can't solve issues - Go to offical forums. Rather than relying on random blogs on internet - Official communities would be life saver for you.
✅ Never stop learning outside your current job role. Learning will keep you going and give you wonders.
✅ The good understanding between teammates play crucial role in delivery of the project. If you can understand and help your teammates better - the chances of resolving issues, delivering requirements would become much easier.
✅ When it comes to project management - having a good repo with developer, understanding their perspective, willingness to help when required - is the key to project success.
✅ The urgent issues in your projects - should not be hijacking your on going sprint - this way you are helping developers also to achieve sprint goals.

✔ Learnings from working in startups and growing companies:

✅ The more you learn, the more you become better.
✅ Networking is the key to get good mentors
✅ Good developer communities can help a lot when working on projects.
✅ Working with seniors can give you much insights to be better at what you do.

😇 Life advice to dear developers out there:

â–¶ In initial years of career - don't run behind money. Focus on learning as much as you can.
â–¶ This lesson is my favourite - "Spend first ten years in startups/growing companies, Spend second 10 years in Good companies where you can lead, In next 10 years - build something of your own"
